The LUCSA Christian Education Program was created to enable LUCSA to foster lifelong journeys in faith through the development of regional-specific education materials for member churches within the communion.
This process began by LUCSA engaging member churches to find out what needs they had in relation to Christian education. We found that a comprehensive program needed to be developed within the framework of the message of the gospel in Southern Africa. The Christian Education Program spent years developing this curriculum into a series of four books. The books were developed to meet the needs of various age groups over a nine year span (within the three year lectionary cycle). This means every Sunday contains a lesson plan covering three separate age level, as to cater to the specific needs of each congregation or parish.
The first three books in the series provides comprehensive structure for Sunday school implementation, while the fourth book provides the structure for confirmation classes.
The books are sold as a set of four for R200 and can be purchased through LUCSA by calling +27 (11) 973.1086
LUCSA's Christian Education Program is looking forward to developing more materials in the future to serve its member churches at all age levels. We realize that because our journeys of faith are lifelong journeys, we must work to holistically develop materials for all people. For children and adults, men and women, clergy and lay persons, we look forward to engaging everyone in this process as we learn and grow together in faith. We hope to add various resources to our website as we build up our Christian Education Virtual Library to enable people to access materials via the web.
