The Lutheran Communion in Southern Africa (LUCSA) President and Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Botswana (ELCB), Bishop Dr CK Moenga, is passionate about the advancement of peace and reconciliation between the two Lutheran churches in Botswana.
Bishop Dr CK Moenga was amongst the dignitaries at the consecration ceremony of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (ELCSA)’s Botswana Diocese Bishop LJ Selwane on Sunday, 14 February.
Welcoming the new Bishop to the Episcopacy, the Botswana ecumenical family and to the country, he invited him to join in an endeavour to continue the fight for peace and unity amongst the Lutherans in Botswana. He further urged the new Bishop to take up where his predecessors left off and be in solidarity with other churches to enhance the true spirit of reconciliation. “Unity of the Lutherans in Botswana is very important. Reconciliation is very important. We have broken God’s church, so let us work together to rebuild it. We Are One Body in Christ. There is more that we have in common than what separates us. As the new Bishop, you must take over where your predecessors left off in this reconciliation” he said
Christians are instruments of peace and reconciliation and through the discussions both churches became aware that reconciliation is a common task to be performed by all for the good of the Church and country.
