LUCSA Malaria Program Technical Support Visit to Mozambique
From the 27th of March to the 8th of April, 2011 LUCSA's Malaria Program Team visited Mozambique (Namina in the north and Chimoio in the centre of the country). Their visits were conducted to facilitate on a number of levels. One of these areas was to assist the local Malaria Field Officers in their Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshops in both Namina and Chimoio. The Team also took time to meet with church leaders to help lay the ground work for the upcoming baseline surveys in the area. This included setting dates for training the enumerators who will conduct the survey and aiding in the development of the surveys' objectives.
The Malaria Program also spent time assessing the current HIV & AIDS structures within the churches and their communities to consider what linkages can be pursued between both programs. In addition they facilitated in the process of training both HIV & AIDS and Malaria activists within the church, so that both groups can work together to help further sustainable behavioral changes in regards to both diseases.
