The foundation of Diakonia is the call to minister and care for needs of humanity and Gods creation. The Church witnesses to the resurrected Christ through various diaconal responses in communities. The Mission and Diakonia Programme has developed into a voice for LUCSA to action against injustice, the alleviation of suffering, poverty, and so has become the driving force behind advocacy and outreach. The purpose of diakonia is inextricably linked to the gospel, through the cross, to serve the needs of God people. The Communion Office is determined to participate with member churches in exploring new areas of learning and sharing best practices with regard to how churches and communities can address socio-economic and political challenges in Southern Africa in light of the Gospel of Christ.
